Nice tsunami weather we're having, eh?

First, my thoughts and prayers are with all of those in Japan, along with those who have family and friends there. The news of the earthquake saddened my heart so much.

Second, this lovely earthquake triggered a tsunami which caused alert to Taiwan, New Zealand, and Hawaii. Wait a second.. I'm in Hawaii!

I won't lie, the thought of a tsunami freaked me out. I may have an irrational fear of natural disasters, to this was going to take the cake, in my head. Thankfully, my dad assured me that we were high enough up on the island to not be hit by it. It was still quite the adventure to hear the tsunami sirens every hour on the hour, cop cars, and having breaking news count down the hours and minutes until the first wave is supposed to hit-- FREAKY.

This is Ali'i drive in Kona earlier this morning.. about ten minutes from where we are.
Start of the IronMan triathlon every October.

Overall, everything turned out alright here. Lack of sleep due to alarms, and some damage to the shops and such on the shore.

So, I went through a tsunami during spring break, what did you do? Haha. :)

It's my last night here in Kona-- we're about to head down and walk the area that got hit, and grab some pupus (appetizers) in one of the beachside restaurants that didn't receive as much damage.

TTFN.
